With baby girl on the way, we’ve been shifting some things around at home. We’re not quite to the stage of baby-proofing, per se, but there are changes we’ve made to make our home a bit more family-friendly. I’m talking functionality, storage and layout. My husband and I have lived together now for about 6 years and our priority at home has always been comfort, but it’s always been the two of us. We were fine with shamelessly eating dinner at the coffee table most nights and we have always had the run of the land as far as closet space and storage. Now we’re thinking about things like, more floor space for play time, more storage for toys and swaddles, family dinner at a table, etc. I thought you might find it interesting if you’re a new mama too, or just love a good dose of home decor! This is about functionality and layout of the house, not about baby gear storage or nursery reveals… just yet.
Here, at Indigo and honey, I like to share my tips, inspirations and thoughts on how to create a home that you love. We talk about how to find things that suit your true style, staying in budget, getting organized, decluttering, and more. These things are my passion, but I’ve only really been able to share with you how I apply these principals to our own home, “our little house on the hill”. Today, that’s going to change! I leaked on Instagram recently that I’m doing a couple room makeovers for some friends and asked if you guys would be interested in seeing the process. The answer was a big overwhelming YES! I’m thrilled to share with you how I’m going to transform Deanna and Steven’s master bedroom into a retreat that they’ll love to escape to at the end of each day. Here goes nothing!
Thank you guys so much for the sweet comments and feedback on my ‘Vintage-Coastal Den Reveal’ last week! I’m so glad to have given some of you new ideas and inspiration. I know I shared some sources that went into decorating the den in my last POST, but there was so much that went into this space, I want to share even more of the sources and details.
I am so excited to share our new den with all of you today!! I can’t even tell you the sigh of relief I’m taking as I write this! This project has been in the works for what feels like forever! Not because it was hard to do or that we had any troubles, but it took time to not only collect the pieces and decide on the vibe of the room, but to decide on WHAT this space was going to be! It was an evolution and we took breaks and came back to it. Now that it has come together, I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all! I hope you enjoy our vintage-coastal den reveal!
Have you seen what we did in our kitchen to create a tiny eat-in area? This little cape didn’t have an obvious dining space (at all). We created a beautiful bar in our kitchen to belly up to and eat our breakfast at or put out appetizers for guests and that works great for us on an every day level.
