1 | Anything can be a cooler!

Anything can be a cooler!

I loved the look of this old crate for outside. It’s rustic and retro …and the perfect size to hold some cold drinks! It inspired a quick DIY for our picnic.

Anything can be a cooler!

All you need is a trash bag and ice! Line the bottom of your box or whatever you’re using with plastic, making sure that there’s enough going up the walls to hold ice. You could use more than one bag if need be. Fill with ice and voila!

Anything can be a cooler!

I, for one, much prefer this look to our dirty old cooler. ๐Ÿ˜‰

2 | Don’t overthink your table

Centerpieces don’t have to be fussy or complicated to make a statement!

I collected candles from around my house and snipped some ferns from the yard. Done! 5 minutes. Don’t overthink it!

These plates were thrifted last summer–$8 for a stack of camping plates from Pottery Barn! Major score and they’re perfect for outdoor entertaining!

I brought in the blue plaid napkins asย  a nod to Memorial Day weekend and the rattan chargers my favorites. They give a beachy feel, which is always welcome in my house!

3 | Keep things easy and fun at the bar

Make these 3-ingredient “his & hers” cocktails. Beer and wine are always a go to for my friends but sometimes it’s fun to kick it up with a signature drink for a party. Instead of going crazy buying a bunch of ingredients, try these easy options!

Here’s a fun way to get everyone involved too–make them his & hers! Both drinks start with ginger beer and ice. Then add whiskey for him and vodka for her. Top off with whichever citrus twist they prefer! How to survive planning your first summer party How to survive planning your first summer party_031

Giveaway time!

With Father’s Day right around the corner, I wanted to share an awesome opportunity for my readers! Looking for unique gift ideas for the guy in your life?

How to survive planning your first summer party

Who doesn’t love cool watches? JORD gifted us this beautiful Dover watch in the Koa and black finish and Greg sorta geeked out over it! He’s a forester and has a serious passion for trees. We got into Koa wood when we honeymooned in Hawaii because Koa is native there. For that, this one was extra perfect. He absolutely loves his and is impressed with the quality of the piece.

The boys and girls at JORD have been absolutely generous–they’re offering a giveaway for you guys! You could win a $75 credit to shop for your own wood watch from their site! Everyone who enters will receive a $20 discount voucher regardless.ย All you have to do is follow this LINK toย enter. And if you’re on Instagram, go follow @woodwatches_com and @indigoandhoney . GOOD LUCK!

Womens Wood Watches

The giveaway is open until 6/1. I am so excited to be able to do this for you all. We’re so impressed with the unique look of Greg’s watch, we had to share! It suits his style, perfectly. Unique, rugged, not too flashy but youthful and different.

He got so many compliments when he wore it. Gotta love that! Being the packaging nerd that I am, I loved how it came in the mail too. Wood box, of course, perfect little tweed pillow to store it.

I had so much fun compiling these ideas for you all, I hope you enjoyed them! I’d love to know if you use any of them this summer, so make sure to tag me in your photos on social media! Pin them for later so you’re ready for your next summer party!Under the Dogwood Tree - A spring garden party
