I’ve got a fun project to spruce up your veggie garden this summer—these garden markers require little time and little cash!
Here’s what you’ll need:
• Paint brushes (nothing fancy needed)
• Wooden spoons (these are a good deal!)
The possibilities are really endless.
You can paint the veggie names right onto the spoons, you can coordinate your paint color to the color of the veggie, you can simply paint the name of the plant onto the raw wood spoon….
I like subtle, natural tones so I went with greens for mine and I painted the entire spoons, front and back so they’d blend into the garden a little more. I did mix a few greens in the process, I like how it makes them feel weathered and organic. I also did this so they weren’t all exactly the same, imperfection is always welcome with me. I used a tiny brush to paint on the letters by hand (again, embracing the imperfection here!). You could also use stencils for this part if you want a more uniform look.
Just don’t forget to seal them in the end, so they last through the rain and into next year!
I love how they turned out. They add some character to the garden and help you find things quickly. If you try this, make sure to share your photos on Instagram and tag me 🙂 Tell me in the comments, what other types of projects and DIYs you’d like to see!
