Here’s our bedroom at the top of the stairs. It still surprises me sometimes just how quiet and peaceful this house is. I call the upstairs my ‘cloud’ because of all the light that pours in and the light carpet and paint help 😉 Though the room is still quite simple, it has gone through some changes since we first moved in. This tiny house has tiny stairs…….tiny stairs that won’t fit a tradition box spring up them. For the first 2 months or so, we had our queen mattress on the floor. On one hand, it was really embarrassing because everyone wanted a tour of the house and we were living like bachelors in our room. On the other hand, I tried to tell myself that it was ‘minimal’ and ‘zen’ (I can convince myself of anything 😉 ) Then we decided to upgrade to the larger bed that we had always wanted. A California King–not quite as wide as a traditional King size but a bit longer for my husband’s long legs. We loved it immediately!
Notice how tall that nightstand looks? It’s because the bed is on the floor. Ha! It took some time to get the frame from the larger bed–so we had our split box springs and split mattresses on the floor still (BUT it was taller than just the queen on the floor. We were getting there.)
Now the bed is up off of the floor and I feel like I’m queen of the house when I climb up into it and have space to sprawl out! Sleep is very important to us. (Don’t mind the lack of bed skirt–what do you want, everything?!)
I’m sure this room will continue to evolve, especially when my ‘Dressing Room’ becomes a nursery and we have to consolidate things into one bedroom. For now, we love our calm and simple bedroom; it’s perfect for relaxing.
I wanted to list all of the sources for this room, but much of what we have has been collected over the years or is second hand, so you’ll see I hunted down some similar options online for you to shop from if you’re interested! I’ve listed what I could below.
Mirror is thrifted (similar), Bench is HomeGoods (similar, love this one)
The side table is J.Hunt from TJ Maxx (this one is almost identical) and the lamp is HomeGoods (yes, I really love a bargain) I had trouble finding alternative lamps but here are a few.
Quilt and Euro Shams are Pottery Barn. Ticking pillow cases are Ralph Lauren (similar). Cream Sham is Garnet Hill (love this option with the scalloped edges!) and plaid throw pillow is Pottery Barn (pretty option).
Cotton blanket is Ralph Lauren via HomeGoods (this one in ‘Ash’ is almost the same blanket)
My slippers are L.L. Bean and they’re the best!
Greg’s dresser is actually his from childhood. It’s beautiful and solid wood, I’m sure it will be in our house for many years to come. Here are a couple other tall boys.
A little DIY I did of our wedding song lyrics (similar frame) Lamp is old from Walmart (similar).
That’s all for now! Could you rest in this room? What’s your bedroom style? Bold and dramatic? Romantic? I want to know! Tell me in the comments 🙂
And as always, thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!
